Altreonic NV is a spin-off company focusing on safety and systems engineering, based on a unique yet straight forward approach. With headquarters in Leuven, Belgium,  Altreonic has a strong technology focus with a history in embedded and parallel real-time systems that goes back to 1989 whereby real-world experience in very divers domains was used to develop a formalised methodology, supported by integrating tools.
As such, Altreonic's activities cover: executing international R&D projects, developing tools and environments, embedded real-time software, custom engineering projects in which hardware as well as software are developed and providing consultancy in safety and systems engineering.
Key products are the formally developed and network-centric OpenComRTOS, selected for the Embedded World award in 2009 and GoedelWorks, a portal based environment for systems and safety engineering.
Fueled by a growing business, Altreonic is recruiting. Several positions are open:
Junior embedded hardware/software engineer, senior embedded systems engineer, field application engineer, internet client-server application engineer, safety engineer.

The positions are based in Belgium, but require regular traveling.
 
Junior embedded hardware/software engineer (position filled)
Your Responsibilities: 
 
The initial assignment will be in one of the running R&D projects in the company and consists of a coached on the job training. The work will consist of developing part of a project, using Altreonic's products or extending them to meet the project requirements.
You will work as a team member using techniques of lean and agile project management. Your responsibilities and position in the team will depend on your results achieved and contribution to the company's goals.
You work in an ethical and communicating manner that aims at detecting and correcting issues at an early stage while keeping in mind the longer term.
 
Your preferred profile:
 
Academic level (minimum is MSc or equivalent by experience).
System thinker with sound electronic, communications or computer science engineering background.
Some experience in solving embedded systems challenges (e.g. thesis work).
Creative and lateral thinker, interested in innovation as well as in practical results.
Team player who can function in a multicultural environment. 
Good social and communication skills.
Self propelled, with a proactive attitude and own initiative. 
Customer and business focused. 
 
Your preferred skills:
 
Proficient in written as well as spoken technical english.
Embedded real-time Programming in ANSI-C, C++ .
Some experience with internet programming.
Developing hardware at schematic block level.
 
Senior embedded systems engineer (position filled)
 
Your Responsibilities:
 
The initial assignment will be in one of the running R&D projects in the company and consists of a coached on the job training.  
The work will range from developing specifications, proposing hardware/software solutions, using and extending Altreonic's products as well as hands-on development of customer specific solutions.
You will work as a team member using techniques of lean and agile project management. Your responsibilities and position in the team will depend on your results achieved and contribution to the company's goals.
You work in an ethical and communicating manner that aims at detecting and correcting issues at an early stage while keeping in mind the longer term. 
 
Your Profile: 
Academic level (minimum is MSc or equivalent by experience).
System thinker with sound electronic, communications or computer science engineering background.
5 yrs proven experience in solving embedded systems challenges.
Creative and lateral thinker, interested in innovation as well as in practical results.
Team player who can function in a multicultural environment. 
Good social and communication skills.
Self propelled, with a proactive attitude and own initiative. 
Fast learner of novel concepts and techniques.
Customer and business focused. 
 
Your preferred skills: 
Proficient in written as well as spoken technical english.
Embedded real-time programming in ANSI-C, C++.
Experience with concurrent and protocol based programming.
Experience with developing client-server applications.
Programming in higher level languages (e.g. Haskell, Phyton, ...).
Use of formal techniques.
Developing hardware at schematic block level.
Debugging hardware designs and developing firmware.
 
Field application engineer 
 
Your Responsibilities: 
The initial assignment consists of a coached on the job training. You will seek customer specific challenges within Altreonic's domain of expertise, evaluate them and together with the technical and management team propose solutions that address the customer needs in a timely and cost-efficient manner.  You support the customer in adapting our tools and in addressing his support requests.
You will work as a team member using techniques of lean and agile project management. Your responsibilities and position in the team will depend on your results achieved and contribution to the company's goals.
You work in an ethical and communicating manner that aims at detecting and correcting issues at an early stage while keeping in mind the longer term. 
 
Your Profile:

Your Responsibilities:
The initial assignment consists of a coached on the job training contributing to the development of Altreonic's products, in particular supporting GoedelWorks.
You are responsible for:
developing stream-lined certifiable engineering processes
conducting gap analysis and process audits
coaching customers in reaching higher safety and maturity levels.
You work in an ethical and communicating manner that aims at detecting and correcting issues at an early stage while keeping in mind the longer term.

Your Profile:
Customer and business focused.
